An assignment was returned to my student without a grade. There are suggestions in the comments. What does this mean?

The assignment needs revisions and your student needs to read the comments, fix the assignment and resubmit.

The assignment is good. Returning an assignment in google classroom is the digital "pass back" so the student can read comments & retain ownership.


My student says he/she turned in work, how I can I check to be sure everything is turned in?

Have your student show you the google classroom page. In the left corner click the horizontal lines and then click "to do." It will show you any work that is still not turned in.

Have your student show you the google classroom page. At the top click on the Classwork tab. Then click "view your work."

Are study guides provided to students? How can I help my student study?

Yes. Each unit test has a corresponding study guide. These will be assignments in google classroom. Have him/her show you the study guide and practice with your student. Pay particular attention to vocabulary for earth science.

How will I know when a test is scheduled?

Tests will be announced in google classroom and posted on the calendar generally a week before the test date.

What is the school policy for late work?

Students are expected to turn in their work by the due dates. However, if a student turns in work late late it will result in a 30% score reduction. Please understand that late work is graded last.

How can I check to see if my student's work is complete before he/she turns it in?

If your student has not yet turned in the assignment simply look over the questions with him/her. If it has been turned in already, but not yet graded your student can "unsubmit" so that you can see the work. If blank assignments are turned in I will note it in the comments and return to your student to complete.

What should my student do if he/she turned something in by mistake but isn't finished?

If it has been turned in already, but not yet graded your student can click "unsubmit" so that your student can complete the work.

How does my student turn in an assignment?

Go to Classwork, click on the assignment, click "View Assignment" and click "Turn In." If the assignment was done with a partner or group my policy is that all students' FIRST and LAST names be typed in the private comment.
